Two brothers die in Jharkhand after family seeks mystic treatment for fever

Two brothers, aged 10 and 15, have died in the Ramgarh district of Jharkhand after their family allegedly sought mystic treatment for a fever instead of medical intervention. The family members had been suffering from fever for several days before turning to a traditional healer, or ‘ojha guni’, for rituals and mantras.

Following the deterioration of their health, the brothers were taken to Sadar Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Their mother, Sangeeta Devi, remains in critical condition and has been referred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for further treatment.

District Civil Surgeon Dr. Anil Kumar has ordered an inquiry into the deaths. While the exact cause of the fever is not yet confirmed, officials have expressed concern that it could potentially be swine flu. Additionally, public health engineering teams are testing local water samples from nearby hand pumps to determine if water contamination played a role in the illness.
