Two brothers in Nonthaburi scavenge for food to support family
In Nonthaburi, Thailand, two brothers have resorted to searching through discarded food bags outside restaurants and convenience stores to feed themselves and their ailing mother. The family's financial crisis began after the older brother, a law graduate, became unemployed, and their mother was rendered unable to work following a hit-and-run road accident.
The family has been without running water or electricity for approximately two months due to unpaid utility bills. To survive, the brothers have also been collecting and selling bottles and paper, as well as selling household belongings. The younger brother, a recent high school graduate, expressed a desire to find work and continue his education rather than relying on charity.
The situation was brought to light by Police Senior Sergeant Major Phukit Phetkhong of the Bang Bua Thong Police Station, who encountered the pair during a late-night patrol. The officer has shared their story in hopes that relevant agencies will provide assistance to the family.
