Two brothers killed in Quevedo military operation, families demand investigation

Two brothers, Roberth David and Anthony David Aragundi Dueñas, were killed during a security operation by the Ecuadorian Armed Forces in the 21 de Enero cooperative, Quevedo, Los Ríos. The military said the brothers, known as “Aguacate,” were suspected members of the organized crime group Los Choneros and had tried to confront the soldiers, prompting the use of force. Relatives rejected the official account, claiming the men were taken from their homes and demanding a transparent inquiry into the deaths.

The incident has sparked protests outside the Quevedo forensic center, where families are pressing authorities to clarify the circumstances and investigate possible misconduct by the armed forces.
