Two buses collide in São João del-Rei

A head-on collision involving two public transport buses occurred on Monday night in São João del-Rei, Brazil. The accident took place on a bridge near Praça da Biquinha, connecting the Historic Center to the Tejuco neighborhood.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles due to the force of the impact, requiring firefighters to use extrication techniques, including cutting through the dashboard and seat structures, to rescue them. The drivers were treated for suspected lower limb fractures and facial injuries. Additionally, four passengers from one of the buses sustained minor injuries.

Authorities noted that the bridge features a narrowing of the roadway, which may have contributed to the crash. Civil Police forensics were called to the scene to investigate the exact cause of the collision.
