Two charged in Texas after 2-year-old found unresponsive

A mother and her boyfriend have been charged following the severe beating of a 2-year-old girl in Spring, Texas. The child was found unresponsive and was rushed to a hospital after the couple sought help at a local gas station.

Gerardo Gonzalez, 29, faces charges of injury to a child involving serious bodily injury. Authorities state that Gonzalez allegedly admitted to punching the toddler in the head and body, as well as stomping on her. He has been booked into the Harris County Jail with a $1 million bond.

Jazmin Cisneros, 28, has also been charged with injury to a child. Prosecutors allege that while she did not participate in the physical abuse, she was aware of prior abuse and failed to report it to avoid Gonzalez going to jail. Her bail was set at $500,000.

The toddler remains in critical condition at a hospital. Court records indicate the child is not expected to survive her injuries.
