Two charged with perjury over Conor McGregor appeal

Two individuals, Samantha O'Reilly and Steven Cummins, have been charged with perjury in a Dublin court. The charges follow an investigation into allegedly false statements made during Conor McGregor’s unsuccessful appeal of a civil sexual assault verdict.

The case stems from a 2018 incident in a Dublin hotel where a jury found McGregor liable for the sexual assault of Nikita Hand. As part of his appeal, O'Reilly, a former neighbor of Hand, provided an affidavit claiming to have witnessed a physical altercation involving Hand and her ex-boyfriend around the time of the alleged assault. Hand denied these claims, and the evidence was subsequently withdrawn from the appeal.

McGregor, who was ordered to pay £206,000 plus legal fees, continues to maintain his innocence. No hearing date has been set for the perjury charges against O'Reilly and Cummins.
