Two children injured in jet ski crash in Dunaharaszt, Hungary

On Monday evening at a closed water‑sports centre in Dunaharaszt, Hungary, a five‑year‑old boy collided with his ten‑year‑old brother while each was operating a separate jet ski. The younger child sustained a severe head injury that required emergency neurosurgery and intensive‑care treatment, while the older sibling escaped serious harm.

The incident occurred while the boys' father and a third jet ski were nearby. Police opened a child‑endangerment investigation, noting that Hungarian law prohibits anyone under 18 from operating a jet ski alone and requires a special licence. The club that runs the facility, represented by Gelencsér Csaba, said the track was otherwise unused that night and that guests are allowed to use their own watercraft without verification of the operators.

The five‑year‑old is currently in stable condition in intensive care, and the case highlights enforcement concerns over under‑age jet ski usage.
