Two cliff rescues in Italy leave one man injured and another safe

A 21‑year‑old from Montelupo Fiorentino was injured after jumping from an estimated 20 metres near Punta della Madonnina at Marciana Marina on the island of Elba. He fell onto a protruding rock, suffering facial, wrist and leg trauma. Local volunteers, ambulance staff and municipal police responded, and an air‑rescue helicopter later transferred him to Cisanello Hospital in Pisa for treatment.

In Aci Castello, Sicily, Carabinieri intervened when a 46‑year‑old man from Misterbianco stood on the edge of the cliff at lungomare Cristoforo Colombo, intending to jump. After a dialogue with the officers, he was persuaded to step back from the precipice and was subsequently taken for medical assessment.
