Two Colombian migrants intercepted in Yucatán security operation

Two Colombian nationals, aged 33 and 48, were intercepted during a coordinated security and migration operation beneath the Teya overpass on the Mérida-Cancún highway in Yucatán, Mexico.

The operation was led by the National Migration Institute (INM) and involved multiple agencies, including the Mexican Navy (SEMAR), the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and the State Investigation Police. The Navy provided perimeter security during the intervention.

Authorities described the procedure as a “humanitarian rescue,” noting that the individuals were treated with respect for their human rights. Both men stated they lacked documentation to prove their migratory status. They were transferred to the INM offices in Mérida, where administrative proceedings will determine their legal status and potential return to Colombia.
