Villares de la Reina: Two dead in suspected gas leak

Two elderly people, a man and a woman approximately 80 years old, have died following a suspected gas leak in the Las Bizarricas urbanization in Villares de la Reina, Salamanca.

Emergency services were alerted around 11:49 AM on Friday. Upon arrival, responders found the two victims deceased inside a home on Nogales Street. A third person, a woman in her 60s who was providing care for the elderly couple, was found in serious condition due to illness and was transported to the Complejo Asistencial de Salamanca for medical treatment.

Preliminary investigations by the Guardia Civil suggest the deaths may have been caused by carbon monoxide inhalation, potentially originating from a running vehicle engine. Firefighters from the Diputación de Salamanca attended the scene to conduct safety measurements and requested the presence of the gas utility company to inspect the installations.
