Two dead in eight-vehicle pileup on Zawiercie bypass

A multi-vehicle collision on the Zawiercie and Poręba bypass in Poland resulted in the deaths of 20-year-old Szymon Zaczyński and his 50-year-old father. The accident involved eight vehicles, including four trucks and four passenger cars.

The crash occurred on national road number 78 following a separate incident where a truck trailer caught fire, causing traffic congestion. Preliminary police findings suggest a Mercedes truck driver failed to exercise due caution, striking a Renault and triggering a chain reaction. The impact was severe enough to crush a Volkswagen, which was forced under a Scania truck trailer.

Szymon Zaczyński was a graphic designer who had been working with the handball club Industria Kielce for approximately two months. He was traveling to a Champions League match against SC Magdeburg when the accident occurred. The club and the Polish Handball Federation expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the young professional, noting his ambition and contributions to the sport's visual identity.
