Two dead in Sandeshkhali car collision involving former MLA's vehicle

Two people died and two others were injured after a car belonging to former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Sukumar Mahato collided with an e-rickshaw in the Boyarmari area of Sandeshkhali, West Bengal.

The collision caused both the vehicle and the e-rickshaw to plunge into a roadside pond. The deceased have been identified as 47-year-old Mujibur Rahman and 50-year-old Mahima Bibi. Survivors were rescued and taken to Minakhan Hospital for treatment.

Reports indicate the car, a Scorpio, was being driven by a new driver traveling toward Kolkata to pick up Mahato when the accident occurred. The driver has reportedly been absconding since the incident. While police are investigating how the driver lost control, Mahato claimed that two e-rickshaws were racing each other on the road at the time of the collision.
