Two dead in shooting and crash on Anáhuac highway

A violent armed attack and subsequent vehicle collision on the highway between Cuauhtémoc and Anáhuac left two men dead and one injured. The incident occurred around 6:23 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, near kilometer 62 of the highway.

According to reports, gunmen opened fire on a Honda Odyssey carrying three men. The driver, 26-year-old Josmar Osbaldo E. H., attempted to evade the gunfire, causing the vehicle to overturn and collide with a Ford Focus. Two occupants of the Honda died at the scene; one has been preliminarily identified as 29-year-old Julio César R. M. The third occupant, Josmar Osbaldo E. H., was transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds to his legs and shoulder.

Two individuals in the Ford Focus, a 30-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, were involved in the collision but escaped serious injury, though the woman suffered a nervous crisis. Investigators recovered approximately ten .223 caliber shell casings at the scene. The Fiscalía Zona Occidente is currently conducting an investigation into the shooting and the resulting crash.
