Two dead, two injured in train‑pickup crash near Irapuato, Mexico

On Sunday morning at about 10:00 a locomotive struck a gray pickup truck attempting to cross the railway at the junction between Guadalupe de Rivera and Purísima de Covarrubias, near Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico. The truck, which was carrying five occupants, was hit, overturned and caused fatalities.

Emergency services, municipal police and civil protection responded to the scene. A man and a woman were pronounced dead, two others were taken to hospital with injuries, and the driver was detained. Forensic investigators from the state prosecutor’s office collected evidence and transferred the bodies to the forensic medical service for autopsy.
