Two drivers injured in Bucharest Unirii Passage accident

A serious traffic accident occurred in the Unirii Passage in Bucharest around 05:47 on Tuesday morning. Two cars collided, causing one vehicle to cross into the adjacent lane and strike the other before both crashed into the passage's safety wall. The impact damaged the walls and caused significant traffic disruptions.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. While alcohol tests for both individuals returned negative results, a preliminary drug test for the 27-year-old driver of a rental car indicated the presence of ketamine, an anesthetic substance that can impair perception and reaction times. Official toxicological analysis is pending to confirm these findings.

The Unirii Passage has a history of significant incidents, including a 2022 accident involving a bus that resulted in one death and 24 injuries, as well as a vehicle fire in October 2022.
