Two Elderly Drivers Killed in Separate Truck‑Car Collisions in Southern Brazil

On Thursday night, 70‑year‑old José Albino Kohls of Cerro Branco died when his Chevrolet Montana crossed into the opposite lane of the RSC‑287 near Candelária, colliding head‑on with a cargo truck. The impact was fatal at the scene; a passenger in the Montana, 46‑year‑old mechanic Alex Ferreira, was seriously injured.

Later the same night, an 80‑year‑old man was killed in Rio do Campo, Santa Catarina, after his Fiat Punto struck a Mercedes‑Benz truck on the Estrada Geral Rio da Prata. The driver of the truck, a 41‑year‑old man, was taken for questioning. Both accidents prompted responses from local police and emergency services.
