Two Emirati nationals arrested after police chase in Phuket
Two Emirati nationals were arrested in Phuket's Kathu district following a violent pursuit of police officers on August 13. The incident began at the Si Kor checkpoint on Phra Baramee Road when officers attempted to stop a black Honda ADV 160 motorcycle for a routine license check.
The rider allegedly accelerated through the checkpoint to evade officers. During the chase, the passenger reportedly kicked the motorcycle of Police Sergeant Major Siwiyot Yodrabam, causing the officer to lose balance. The suspects continued to drive against oncoming traffic and eventually cut across the officer's path, resulting in a crash that injured Yodrabam and damaged his vehicle and equipment.
The pursuit ended at a dead-end street within The Valley housing estate, where the suspects abandoned the motorcycle and attempted to flee on foot. They were apprehended near the estate entrance. The suspects, identified as 21-year-old Sohail and 20-year-old Hammad Saif Rashed, face multiple charges including assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and traffic violations.
