Two farm murders reported in Brazil's Mato Grosso region

A 69‑year‑old farmer, Osvaldo Valentim, was shot dead during a robbery at his farm in the Assentamento Carimã area of Rondonópolis. Five masked assailants tied Valentim and his 39‑year‑old niece, forced them to make Pix transfers, stole mobile phones and demanded the keys to his Toyota Hilux. Valentim was shot in the head; his niece escaped and alerted neighbours. Police are investigating the crime as latrocínio and have not yet identified the suspects.

In a separate incident, 26‑year‑old farm worker João Vitor Corrêa dos Santos was stabbed to death after an argument with a colleague at Fazenda Tamarana in São José do Xingu. The suspected attacker, a 20‑year‑old, fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities have recorded the case as a completed intentional homicide and continue the investigation.
