Two farmers die of electrocution in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur

Two farmers, identified as Sagar Bhoi and Ajay Kumar Sahu, died from electrocution in Benukhanda village within the Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha. The incident occurred while the men were engaged in agricultural work near a paddy field.

Reports indicate the men came into contact with a live electric wire. While they were rushed to the Jagatsinghpur District Headquarter Hospital, medical professionals declared them dead upon arrival. Villagers have alleged that the electric wire may have been laid underground without proper authorization or necessary safety measures.

Following the deaths, family members and local residents staged a road blockade in front of the Jagatsinghpur Municipality office, using the bodies of the deceased to protest. The protesters are alleging negligence by the local energy department and are demanding a detailed investigation into the circumstances of the accident, as well as adequate compensation for the families.
