Two fatal accidents in Vietnam: mountain rescue death and bus crash

On May 8, police in Khanh Hoa province used hydraulic equipment to lift a large rock and recover the body of 38‑year‑old Nguyen Van S, who was trapped after a rockfall while digging for ornamental trees on a mountain near Bình Lập. Local militia and rescue teams worked through the night and removed the body at about 15:45.

Later the same day, a 16‑seat bus (license 77F‑000.05) plunged down the Tô Na pass on National Highway 25 in Gia Lai province, killing two passengers – L.K.H., 37, and N.V.H., 46 – and injuring five others, including a 75‑year‑old woman who later died at the scene. The driver, 54‑year‑old Tran Van H., was found not to be under the influence; investigators say the crash resulted from loss of speed control on a curve.

Both incidents highlight the hazards of mountainous travel and rescue operations in Vietnam's central highlands.
