Two Fatal Domestic Violence Incidents Reported in Uttar Pradesh, India

A 30‑year‑old man in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, set himself on fire after a domestic dispute with his wife. CCTV footage showed him running onto a public street engulfed in flames before bystanders attempted to extinguish the fire. He was taken to a hospital but died during treatment. In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, 26‑year‑old Deepanshu Rai was stabbed to death by his live‑in partner, Kush Pandey, following an argument at their home. Pandey used a kitchen knife, and despite emergency calls, Rai died at the scene. Police apprehended Pandey, who confessed to the stabbing, and the case is being investigated for motives and possible alcohol‑related disputes.

Both incidents highlight rising concerns over domestic violence in the state.
