Two fatal motorcycle crashes reported in Greece this week

A 29‑year‑old motorcyclist died in a crash near the village of Mikri Mantineia in Messenia early on Monday, around 01:00. The rider lost control of his bike, struck a fixed obstacle and was thrown from the vehicle. Emergency services (EKAB) arrived about 25 minutes later, but the rider was already deceased. Police from the Kalamata traffic department are investigating possible causes such as speed, road surface condition, inadequate lighting or involvement of another vehicle.

On Sunday afternoon in Agia Paraskevi, a 22‑year‑old motorcyclist was killed after a side‑on collision with a passenger car on Mesogeion Avenue near its junction with Lavriou Avenue. The impact threw the motorbike onto the pavement; the rider suffered fatal injuries while a 23‑year‑old passenger on the bike was lightly hurt. EKAB ambulances transported both victims to hospital, and the local traffic police have opened a pre‑investigation into the circumstances of the accident. Both incidents underscore ongoing road‑safety concerns for motorcyclists in Greece.
