Two fatal road accidents hit Greece in June

A 70‑year‑old woman died and a male passenger was lightly injured after a passenger car collided with a truck on the National Highway near the Malgara tolls, heading toward Thessaloniki. Emergency crews from EKAB responded quickly, transporting the victim to Papaioannou Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

In a separate incident in Kallithea, Athens, a motorcyclist traveling at about 168 km/h lost control, striking a car and a pedestrian. The crash resulted in one death and a woman who was hit while walking was treated and released. Police made two arrests linked to the accident, and Minister Michalis Chrysochidis announced a 3,000 % increase in traffic checks in the Attica region and emphasized stricter enforcement against dangerous driving.

Both accidents prompted significant police and medical response, highlighted ongoing concerns about high‑speed traffic violations, and led to calls for continued road safety measures.
