Two fatal road accidents in France claim lives in Vosges and Pas‑de‑Calais
A 23‑year‑old driver from the Épinal area died after her car missed a right‑hand turn entering the village of Harol in the Vosges department. The vehicle struck the corner of a garage at high speed; despite the efforts of fire crews, the gendarmerie and a medical helicopter, she was pronounced dead at 17:15. The incident is the thirteenth road‑traffic death recorded in Vosges this year.
In a separate crash on the night of 31 July 2026, a 19‑year‑old man was killed in Saint‑Venant near Béthune in the Pas‑de‑Calais department. The accident occurred around 23:00 on Rue de Guarbecque; the victim was found in cardiac arrest and could not be revived despite first‑aid measures by the SMUR. A second occupant, a 21‑year‑old, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Béthune hospital for treatment. Police investigations are ongoing in both cases.
