Two fatal traffic accidents in Cuiabá, Brazil kill elderly woman and 66‑year‑old

On March 29, a 66‑year‑old woman, Dionísia Casemiro, was struck at a busy intersection in Primavera do Leste, Mato Grosso, when a vehicle failed to yield while turning onto Avenida São Sebastião. The collision threw her to the ground, causing severe injuries and she died before emergency services arrived. The driver left the scene and police are searching for the vehicle.

Later that night in the Nova Esperança neighbourhood of Cuiabá, 51‑year‑old Rosiete de Jesus Medeiros was killed after being hit by a Volvo FH semi‑truck while dismounting a motorcycle ridden by her son‑in‑law. The truck crossed the motorcycle's path at a left‑turn, and the victim was struck on the roadway. Police confirmed the truck driver tested negative for alcohol and the incident is under investigation by traffic authorities.
