Two Fatal Truck Accidents Claim Lives in Mato Grosso, Brazil
A 24‑year‑old man, Lucas Pereira Lima, died after his Ford F‑1000 truck fell into an open drainage ditch in the Vila Operária neighbourhood of Aripuanã, Mato Grosso. The vehicle reportedly "flew" over the three‑metre‑wide trench, capsized and caused fatal injuries despite rapid medical assistance.
In a separate incident in the Cidade Salmen district of Rondonópolis, also in Mato Grosso, 63‑year‑old Geneziel Andrade Duarte was struck by a reversing flat‑bed truck. The driver left the scene and has not been located. Police are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the vehicle and driver.
Both accidents highlight concerns about road safety and the handling of large vehicles on public streets in the state.
