Two Fatal Violence Incidents Reported in Chihuahua, Mexico

A 39‑year‑old woman, Laura Anahí C. A., was killed in Guadalupe y Calvo, Chihuahua, after an explosive device—believed by locals to have been dropped from a drone used by rival criminal groups—detonated in the courtyard of her home. She suffered severe leg injuries and died despite emergency evacuation by plane.

Separately, authorities are investigating the death of 37‑year‑old Wendy Yamilette Acosta on the Vía Corta highway near Parral, Chihuahua. Her daughter, Fhernanda Acosta, alleges that Acosta’s partner, Francisco Ismael Armendáriz Sáenz, intentionally caused the vehicle to crash and fled the scene, constituting homicide and attempted homicide. The state prosecutor has opened investigations into both cases.

These incidents highlight ongoing criminal violence in the state of Chihuahua.
