Two deaths force early shutdown of Hungary's Ozora Festival

Hungary’s Ozora Festival, one of Europe’s largest psychedelic trance events, was cut short after two attendees died on Saturday, August 1. A 39‑year‑old Hungarian woman suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, likely exacerbated by extreme heat that saw temperatures reach 40 °C. A 45‑year‑old American man fell from a decorative structure near the main stage; authorities are investigating the incident as a possible suicide.

Organisers announced that all music programmes would end at midnight on Sunday, expressing condolences to the families and reminding participants of the ongoing heat alert and the need to stay hydrated. The festival, which began on July 24 in Dadpuszta and was scheduled to run until August 4, will now conclude two days early. Investigations by Hungarian police and medical services are ongoing.
