A head-on collision between a Scania truck and a minibus on the BR-373 highway in Ipiranga, Paraná, resulted in at least 23 deaths and five injuries during the early hours of Wednesday, August 19. The minibus, owned by the Imbituva Municipal Health Department, was transporting patients and companions to hospitals in the Curitiba metropolitan area.

Preliminary findings from the Federal Highway Police (PRF) indicate that the truck, which was traveling from Carambeí toward Prudentópolis, may have crossed into the opposite lane before striking the minibus. The five injured individuals were transported to hospitals in Ponta Grossa. The accident caused a total closure of the highway for several hours, leading to significant traffic congestion. Local authorities have declared a period of mourning, and scientific police are conducting investigations to determine the exact cause of the collision.
