Two Romanian Figures Die in Separate Suicide Incidents

A 60‑year‑old businessman in Craiova was found dead in the cellar of his home after reportedly shooting himself with a legally owned hunting rifle. Emergency crews responded to an emergency call at 09:10, but resuscitation attempts failed. Police and prosecutors are investigating the circumstances, confirming the weapon was legally possessed and opening a criminal case for negligent homicide.

In a separate incident, a 38‑year‑old police officer serving as deputy chief in the town of Târgu Lăpuș, Maramureș County, was discovered dead in a forested area near Rohia, apparently having shot himself with his service weapon. The officer, who was married with two children, was found in his personal car with a gunshot wound. An investigation led by a prosecutor is underway, with authorities examining the factors that led to the tragedy.
