Nisko firefighters killed in warehouse fire

Two firefighters from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Nisko, Bartłomiej Pieróg and Wojciech Garbacz, died during a warehouse fire on October 16. The incident occurred when a sudden and violent spread of fire cut off their evacuation route.

In response to the tragedy, firefighters across Poland held a tribute, using light and sound signals on their vehicles to honor their fallen colleagues. An official fundraising campaign has been launched by the Siepomaga Foundation to provide financial support for the families of the deceased, particularly for the wife of Bartłomiej Pieróg, who was expecting their first child. As of October 19, the collection has raised over 410,000 PLN from more than 6,000 donors.
