Two fires in Efeler, Aydın, Turkey prompt swift firefighting response

A fire broke out at the Perande Shopping Center in Efeler district, Aydın, while renovation work was under way. Sparks from a welding machine ignited nests behind a signage board, spreading to the building's foam cladding. Firefighters arrived quickly, contained the blaze before it could spread to surrounding businesses, and rescued a cat trapped in a nearby apartment. No injuries or fatalities were reported and an investigation was opened.

Later that night, another fire erupted in an olive orchard on İzmir Boulevard in Efeler. Strong winds helped the flames engulf around 200 olive trees. Multiple fire, forest, health and volunteer (UMKE) teams, together with municipal water tankers, responded and extinguished the fire. Two local residents suffered minor smoke inhalation but were treated and released. Authorities launched an inquiry to determine the cause and warned residents to avoid open flames in open areas.
