Two experienced fishermen, identified as 66‑year‑old Cremildo Nunes das Flores and 59‑year‑old Roni Vons, drowned in the Lagoon of Jaconé in Maricá, Rio de Janeiro, on Sunday, 26th. According to municipal Civil Defense and the fire brigade, the men left for an early‑morning fishing trip. One of them is believed to have fallen into the water; his companion dived to rescue him, but both subsequently sank.

A passing fisherman spotted a derelict boat snagged in a fishing net and alerted authorities. The first body was recovered by the fire brigade, and a second body was located shortly after by Civil Defense agents conducting a sweep of the lagoon. The bodies were held at the scene for forensic examination, then transferred to the Instituto Médico‑Legal. A police technical investigation was opened before the remains were removed.
