Walpole Island pedestrian dies in Saturday night vehicle collision

A 48-year-old Walpole Island resident died following a collision between a sport utility vehicle and a pedestrian on Chiefs Road, between Tecumseh and Austin roads. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lambton OPP, Walpole Island police, and paramedics responded to the scene, where the individual was pronounced dead. The road was closed for several hours to allow the West Region OPP traffic incident management and enforcement team to investigate. Authorities are requesting anyone with dashcam footage or witnesses to contact local police or Crime Stoppers.
