Two former Lufthansa Boeing 737s up for auction
Two former Lufthansa Boeing 737-500 aircraft are being auctioned on a Romanian platform for a minimum price of €238,000 each. Both planes served Lufthansa for approximately 24 years, from 1991 until 2015, before being transferred to the Romanian airline Blue Air in 2016.
The aircraft are not currently airworthy. They have been grounded since 2022 without regular maintenance or engine preservation, meaning their airworthiness certificates have expired. Potential buyers will need to obtain approval from Boeing to return the planes to service.
The two aircraft are located in different countries: one is in Bacău, Romania, and the other is in Forlì, Italy. The aircraft in Italy may incur additional costs, as it has reportedly accumulated approximately €50,000 in parking fees as of February of this year.
