Two friends complete 90-mile walk to promote kindness
Two retired teachers, Jim Hall and Bob Bruce, completed a nine-day, 90-mile walk titled the ‘Be Kind, Do Good Walk’ to promote kindness and bridge political and religious divides. The journey took them from Shoreline to the state Capitol in Olympia, Washington.
Inspired by Buddhist monks who walked for peace, the pair aimed to connect with various faith communities. Hall, a Quaker, and Bruce, a Catholic, met with Christian priests, Jewish rabbis, and Muslim imams along their route. Hall noted that the participants encountered warmth and generosity from diverse groups, emphasizing the shared human values that transcend religious differences.
