Two Gujarat officials arrested for taking drug license bribe
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested two officials from the Food and Drug Control Administration in Bharuch, Gujarat, for allegedly accepting a bribe of 40,000 rupees. The officials, identified as Assistant Commissioner Prakashbhai Posnani and Drug Inspector Surbhi Ben Desai, were caught during a trap operation at the department's office.
The arrests followed a complaint from an applicant seeking a new wholesale drug license. According to investigators, Desai allegedly informed the complainant that the license would be issued if a payment of 40,000 to 50,000 rupees was made to a senior official. Instead of paying, the complainant reported the matter to the Narmada ACB police station.
During the sting operation, the ACB recovered the full bribe amount as the officials accepted the cash. Both individuals face legal action for criminal misconduct and abuse of their official positions.
