Two individuals arrested for loan fraud in Buon Ma Thuot

Authorities in Buon Ma Thuot have arrested Hoang Duc Ha (33) and Ly Thi Thu Van (38) for fraudulent appropriation of property. The two suspects met through online groups and conspired to target individuals in urgent need of financial assistance.

Using Zalo to advertise fake bank loan services with high limits and low interest rates, the pair deceived victims by requesting upfront payments for “appraisal fees,” “expedited processing fees,” and “loan insurance.” After receiving the funds, the suspects severed all contact without providing any loan services.

In total, the duo defrauded multiple victims of 135.5 million VND. Investigations revealed that Ha had previously committed similar scams, misappropriating over 59 million VND independently. The case is currently being processed for further legal action.
