Two inmates charged with attempted murder at HMP Belmarsh
Two inmates, Steven Sansom, 47, and Adam Watson, 39, have been charged with the attempted murder of Urfan Sharif at HMP Belmarsh. The incident allegedly occurred on New Year’s Day last year when Sharif was ambushed in a cell by the two men using a jagged tuna tin lid as a weapon.
Sharif, who was previously convicted of the murder of his ten-year-old daughter, Sara Sharif, sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his neck and face during the attack. The Crown Prosecution Service stated that sufficient evidence exists to pursue criminal proceedings, and the defendants are scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 26.
Urfan Sharif and his partner, Beinash Batool, were sentenced to prison in December following the death of Sara Sharif, who was subjected to prolonged abuse in Woking, Surrey.
