Torre Annunziata cemetery shooting: 71‑year‑old man wounds ex‑wife, barricades, arrested
On a sunny late‑July morning in Torre Annunziata, 71‑year‑old Giuseppe Fogliamanzillo opened fire on his 63‑year‑old ex‑wife, Rosa Federico, as she was laying flowers at their daughter’s tomb. The shots struck her abdomen and leg, but she was not in life‑threatening condition.
After the attack Fogliamanzillo retreated into a chapel within the cemetery, barricading himself and firing at police who arrived on the scene. A negotiated operation by officers of the Torre Annunziata police station, the mobile squad and the Naples Questura led to his surrender. He was disarmed, taken into custody and placed under investigation by the local prosecutor. The victim received emergency care from 118 medics and was hospitalized for monitoring.
The incident sparked panic among cemetery visitors, who fled the area as police secured the site. Authorities continue to probe the motive behind the assault.
