Two Iraqi Terror Suspects Arrested in Germany
German authorities in North Rhine‑Westphalia have detained two Iraqi nationals, aged 29 and 46, in the towns of Höxter and Bottrop on suspicion of belonging to a terrorist organization abroad. The General Prosecutor’s Office in Düsseldorf alleges the suspects fought for the Islamic State in Iraq between mid‑2015 and late‑2016.
The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) acted on a tip, seized the suspects’ mobile phones and laptops, and secured arrest warrants. A decision on pre‑trial detention is pending, and investigators say there is no evidence of planned attacks in Germany.
