Two jailed for 10 years following Islington knife attack

Leah Campbell-Knechtel, 28, and Jawad Naser, 47, have each been sentenced to 10 years in prison at the Old Bailey following a brutal knife attack in Islington.

The incident occurred on January 18 after a dispute over money between Campbell-Knechtel and her 66-year-old partner. Although Campbell-Knechtel initially returned to the flat to “make peace,” she allowed Naser to enter and provided him with a kitchen knife to attack the victim. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds that required emergency surgery and resulted in life-changing injuries.

Following an intensive manhunt, police located Campbell-Knechtel hiding under a bedframe at a property in Muswell Hill less than 48 hours after the attack. Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger stated that while Campbell-Knechtel did not wield the knife, she lured the victim into a false sense of security to facilitate the assault.
