Two KIB-TEK employees appear in court over transformer tampering

Two KIB-TEK employees have appeared in court in Girne following an investigation into electrical outages and unauthorized interference with transformer stations in Arapköy and Karaağaç.

According to police testimony provided by officer Ahmet Aşan, the incidents occurred on the night of October 8. The first incident took place in Arapköy at approximately 01:40, followed by a second incident in Karaağaç at 02:13. Investigators noted that there was a gap of only 33 minutes between the two events.

A key detail in the investigation is that the transformer stations were accessed without any visible signs of forced entry or damage to the doors. Police reported that the electrical systems were manipulated by lifting switches at the energy output cable points. Authorities are continuing to investigate how the suspects gained access and the specific nature of the connection between the two incidents.
