Late Saturday night, gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire in the Paraíso neighbourhood of Muey, Santa Elena province, seriously wounding two men. One victim, Hilario Lino, later died despite emergency transport by family members.

Around 01:00 on Sunday, a second attack occurred at a bar in the Santa Rosa parish. Armed assailant entered the venue, shot 15‑year‑old bar employee Shirley Cuesta, killing her, and injured the security guard who tried to stop him. The guard was taken to Liborio Panchana Hospital in serious condition.

These two incidents bring the province's homicide count to 88 for 2026, with twelve murders recorded in the first week of June, highlighting a sharp rise in criminal violence in the region.
