Two killed in Belgrade-Nis highway collision involving intoxicated truck driver

A fatal traffic accident occurred on the Belgrade-Nis highway near Kolara, resulting in the deaths of a married couple, Zorica and Djurika G. from Bajmok. The victims were reportedly traveling to the seaside after completing agricultural work.

Authorities have detained a 27-year-old truck driver from Jagodina, identified as S. M., who is suspected of causing the collision. Investigations by the Smederevo Police Administration confirmed that the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of marijuana. Witnesses stated the truck failed to stop in time for a column of vehicles stationary due to roadworks, striking a Mazda and causing a chain reaction that nearly split the vehicle in two.
