Two killed in electrocution at sweet shop in Bihar, India

Two men died after receiving a severe electric shock at a sweet shop near Chandi Chowk in Bhojpur district, Bihar. The victims were 55‑year‑old shop owner Mahendra Sao and 27‑year‑old labourer Sanjay Kumar, both residents of Chandi village. An insulation fault in the shop’s wiring caused a live wire to contact an iron pipe, energising it. When the men touched the pipe they collapsed and were rushed to Ara Sadar Hospital, but they died before reaching the facility.

Police from the Chandi police station, led by Station House Officer Rakesh Roshan, opened an investigation into the cause of the wiring fault and have begun post‑mortem procedures for the deceased.
