Two killed and four injured in front‑on crash on Italy’s SS77 near Corridonia
A violent head‑on collision occurred shortly after 05:45 on the SS77 Val di Chienti between Corridonia and Morrovalle (km 94.9). A Lancia Musa driven by 41‑year‑old Christian Perugini and a Fiat Punto carrying 20‑year‑old Nicolas Calabrese and four friends crashed head‑on in a lane‑narrowed work zone. Perugini and Calabrese died at the scene; the four occupants of the Fiat were seriously injured, two in critical condition. Rescue crews – fire‑fighters, 118 ambulances, an air‑ambulance and police – extracted the victims, treated the injured and secured the site. The roadway was blocked in both directions until about 10:20 while the vehicles were removed and investigations began. Police are examining the dynamics of the crash and the possible role of the temporary speed limit and lane restriction.
