Germany records multiple fatal road accidents in early July 2026
On 7 July 2026 a Hyundai IONIQ5 crashed near Bartholomä in the Ostalbkreis, overturning and catching fire. The driver, 34, and his 43‑year‑old passenger were killed. The incident caused about €60 000 in property damage and temporarily closed L‑1165.
A separate collision occurred on 7 July on the B6 near Hildesheim. An Opel Astra driven by a 33‑year‑old Ukrainian lost control in a left‑hand curve, rolled over and killed the driver and a 46‑year‑old rear‑seat passenger. Three other occupants, including two teenage boys, were seriously injured.
Between 5 July and 6 July an unknown vehicle travelling on the L126 near Aftersteg in the Todtnau area struck the roof of a local inn, damaging the structure and causing roughly €2 000 in losses. Police are seeking witnesses.
