Two men arrested for dozens of thefts at Basic Fit gyms in France

Two 19-year-old men have been arrested in the Franche-Comté region of France following dozens of suspected thefts at Basic Fit gym locations. The suspects are accused of breaking into member lockers in areas near Belfort and Montbéliard between April 15 and September 6.

According to Belfort public prosecutor Paul-Édouard Lallois, the stolen items included AirPods, keys, glasses, mobile phones, watches, gym bags, and clothing. The pair was caught in the act last Sunday while attempting to break into a locker at a gym in Delle, unaware that gendarmes were training nearby in civilian clothes.

After an initial 48-hour custody period and judicial supervision, the men were arrested again on Tuesday by police from Montbéliard for a series of similar thefts.
