Two men arrested in Thane after rape of 15‑year‑old girl

Police in Thane, a suburb of Mumbai, arrested two suspects after a 15‑year‑old girl was sexually assaulted. The victims were lured to a house by Akhtar Maniar, a tea‑shop owner, and Salim Sheikh, an auto‑rickshaw driver, where they were raped. Neighbours heard the girl's cries, notified authorities and police rescued her, taking her to hospital for medical care.

The Kolsewadi police registered a case, placed the two men in custody, and the community has demanded strict action against the perpetrators.
